Loftus appeared on the list for her decades of work on false memories. Her research has been influential in a criminal justice system that relies heavily on eyewitness testimony.

Proactive policing shows promise, report finds

Associate Professor Emily Owens recently contributed to national report on proactive policing.

Normally, police respond to crime once it occurs. In contrast, proactive policing involves police departments actively seeking to prevent or reduce crime before it happens. A large body of research has found that most of the proactive measures work, at least in the short term.
